We currently have 10 Ramblers groups within the county. Each of eight of these is based in a particular part of the county, whilst the remaining two are non-geographical. Most of the activities of Oxfordshire Ramblers emanate from the groups: walks and social events on the one hand, and providing parish path wardens, investigating potential threats to rights of way, and path maintenance on the other. (For details of the groups follow the links in the left hand side panel.) A representative of each group sits on our Area Council, together with the elected officers and two members’ representatives. The aim of the Area Council is to identify, disseminate and help groups to implement best practice. We do this to contribute to delivering Ramblers mission: the Ramblers helps everyone, everywhere, enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk.

Our Area Walks Programme Coordinator compiles a twice-yearly walks booklet which contains all the walks of our eight geographical groups and also makes our walks available on Ramblers online WalksFinder. Our Oxon 20s30s Walkers and Oxon Weekend Walkers additionally post their walks on their websites.

Our walks booklet is posted to all our members. It also contains information about special social events, walk leader and parish path warden training, first aid course, reporting path problems, and contact details for some group and area officers.

As well as news items on this Oxfordshire Area website we publish a bimonthly e-newsletter which we distribute to members by e-mail. If you did not give your email address when you joined Ramblers, or have since changed it, you might like to give your e-mail address to our Membership Secretary Peter Stone.

Socially we organise a summer picnic, preceded by a walk, and to promote the organisation we have a stall at a number of county shows.

We have an active Area Footpath Subcommittee, with representatives from each of the groups, to help safeguard our Oxfordshire footpath network.

Our Oxfordshire Area AGM is normally held in January (but will be in February in 2017), preceded by a short walk.
